September 7, 2023

SILVER SPRING, MD – Vincent Adeniyi Oyegbami, 22, is now in custody, charged with a string of crimes including armed carjacking that occurred in early August on Georgia Avenue.

3rd District officers initially responded to the 8300 block of Georgia Avenue at approximately 5:39 a.m. for a reported armed carjacking. Investigation found Oyegbami, armed with a black handgun, stole a white 2017 Mercedes E300 from a male victim before fleeing the scene.

Oyegbami was later identified as the suspect through ongoing investigation. On August 24, detectives secured an arrest warrant, charging him with armed carjacking, firearm use in a violent felony, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a firearm, theft, and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Detectives apprehended Oyegbami on August 31 as he left his residence in Prince George’s County. Oyegbami attempted to evade police but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

A subsequent search warrant executed at Oyegbami’s residence led to the recovery of a loaded Glock 30 and other items linking him to the crime.
