Teaneck declares snow emergency as storm hits North Jersey

TEANECK, NJ – Township officials declared an official plow and snow emergency Sunday morning as heavy snow continued to fall across Bergen County.

The Teaneck Department of Public Works issued the declaration at 7 a.m., putting Ordinance Sec. 36-10.1 into effect.

Under the emergency order, all hourly and metered parking fees in municipal lots are suspended until 24 hours after snowfall ends.

Vehicles parked on township roadways outside of exempted areas are subject to towing or summons if not removed during the emergency.

Residents urged to use municipal lots

Town officials encouraged residents to move their vehicles into designated municipal parking lots, where time and meter restrictions will remain lifted throughout the storm response period.

The measure is designed to allow plow crews to clear roadways efficiently as snowfall continues to accumulate across North Jersey.

Residents were also advised to review the township’s full snow removal regulations, available on Teaneck’s official website.

Snowfall continues across Bergen County

The declaration came as a winter storm warning remained in effect for the region, with several inches of snow already reported by midmorning.

Public Works crews are expected to remain on continuous plowing and salting operations until conditions improve.

Teaneck has declared a snow emergency, waiving parking fees and restricting street parking as plows work to clear heavy snowfall.
