Teen arrested in Atlantic City for 2024 shooting death of 19 year old

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Authorities arrested an 18-year-old man Tuesday in connection with the November 2024 fatal shooting of Jaiden Perez, 19, who died nearly a month after being wounded in a gunfire incident outside a Boost Mobile store.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Atlantic City Police Department took the suspect, identified only as N.D., into custody around 2:45 p.m. at his residence on Sovereign Avenue. He was 17 at the time of the shooting and is being charged as a juvenile.

N.D. faces multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy, weapons offenses, and theft-related offenses.

On November 16, 2024, Atlantic City officers responded to the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue after reports of shots fired. Two men had been struck by gunfire when multiple rounds were fired at a group standing near the storefront. Both victims were transported to the Atlantic City Medical Center.

One of the victims, Jaiden Perez, died from his injuries on December 14. A preliminary autopsy found he died from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The second victim was treated and released shortly after the shooting.

N.D. was processed at the Atlantic City Police Department and is being held at Harbor Fields Atlantic Youth Center in Egg Harbor City.
