A 15-year-old boy is facing attempted homicide charges after police say a 14-year-old girl was seriously injured in a stabbing on North New Street in Allentown.
A juvenile suspect has been charged following a stabbing that left a 14-year-old girl seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in Allentown, according to police.
Officers with the Allentown Police Department responded to the 500 block of North New Street at approximately 2:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old female suffering from a stab wound.
Victim Hospitalized With Serious Injuries
The girl was transported by Allentown EMS to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, authorities said. Police did not release additional details about her condition.
Investigators quickly launched a probe into the incident and identified a 15-year-old male as the alleged attacker.
The juvenile was located and taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Juvenile Facing Multiple Charges
Because of his age, authorities have not publicly identified the suspect. Police said he was remanded to juvenile detention following his arrest.
The teen is facing charges of Criminal Attempt at Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Possession of Instruments of Crime.
“Subsequent investigation led to the identification of the actor, a 15yr old male,” the department said in its release. “He was located and taken into custody without incident.”
Investigation Remains Active
Police have not released information regarding a possible motive or the relationship between the suspect and victim.
“There will be no further comment at this time relating to this investigation,” the Allentown Police Department said.
Authorities emphasized that the charges are accusations and that the juvenile is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
