Teen robbery spree in Germantown ends with three juveniles in custody
Gaithersburg, MD — A series of robberies targeting teenagers in Germantown has led to the arrest and charging of three juveniles, including two 16-year-olds now facing adult charges, officials said.
Montgomery County police said the incidents began March 4, when officers responded around 2:26 p.m. to the area of Great Seneca Highway and Richter Farm Road. A teenage male reported he was followed from a nearby business by a group, confronted near the intersection, and threatened with a knife before handing over his belongings.
The following day, March 5, officers were called to the area of Great Seneca Highway and Mateny Road around 3:53 p.m. for another robbery. In that case, a teenage male was approached at a park near Dairymaid Drive and Chalet Drive, grabbed, and threatened until he surrendered his property.
Detectives identified three suspects, all from Germantown, and filed charges on April 8.
A 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were each charged as adults in connection with the March 4 armed robbery, facing counts of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and theft. A 14-year-old male was charged as a juvenile with the same offenses, with his case referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
In connection with the March 5 robbery, the 16-year-old male faces additional juvenile charges of robbery, second-degree assault, and theft. The 14-year-old male was also charged as a juvenile in that case.
The 16-year-old female was taken into custody April 7 on an active warrant and is being held at the Central Processing Unit. The 16-year-old male was already in custody on a separate matter when he was served with the warrant on April 8 and remains held.
Investigators also linked the 16-year-old female to a separate armed robbery on March 11 at a business in the 18200 block of Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg. That case remains under investigation by the 6th District.
