Three Convictions in Deadly Philadelphia Home Invasion

District Attorney Larry Krasner and the Homicide and Non-Fatal Shootings Unit revealed that three men have been convicted and sentenced for involvement in a home invasion robbery leading to the death of 18-year-old Joshua Soto and injuring another person in November 2021. Joseph Cuevas, Luis Castillo, and a third defendant have faced legal actions for their roles in the crime.

Cuevas was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder, Attempted Murder, Robbery, and related firearm charges. Castillo pleaded guilty to Third Degree Murder, Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, and firearm charges. The home invasion ended tragically with Soto’s death from a gunshot by Cuevas, who targeted Soto and Zbigniew Still during the incident.

The conviction came after Cuevas, Castillo, and the cooperating defendant attempted the robbery at Still’s residence, resulting in Soto’s death and Still’s injuries. The conviction assured the accountability of Soto’s killer. All three men are now facing the legal consequences of their actions.
