TOMS RIVER, NJ – Ortley Beach will staff lifeguards for the upcoming weekend, making beach access safer for visitors.

Lifeguards are scheduled to be on duty this Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10. They will patrol the beach from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., dependent on weather conditions.

Beach badges will not be required for visitors during this time, allowing for free entry.

The decision aims to ensure the safety of beachgoers during one of the last warm weekends of the year.

Lifeguarding services at Ortley Beach this weekend could be affected by possible showers and thunderstorms.

Weather forecasts for Saturday indicate a 30% chance of precipitation after 11 a.m., with potential for heavy rainfall during thunderstorms. The high is expected to be near 81 degrees with south winds of 5 to 10 mph.

For tonight, the chance of precipitation rises to 40%, with similar conditions of potentially heavy rainfall during thunderstorms. The low temperature is predicted to be around 75 degrees.

Sunday’s forecast shows a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high temperature near 80 degrees.
