TOMS RIVER, NJ — Intermediate East marked a record-setting year in school athletics, highlighted by the baseball team’s 50-game winning streak and championship seasons across multiple sports programs.
The school’s baseball team continued its remarkable run, reaching 50 straight wins, a milestone that served as a focal point in a school year full of athletic achievement.
The boys’ and girls’ track teams each claimed Red Division titles, won the Toms River Relay Meet, and captured the Ocean County Middle School Championship for the second consecutive year. Together, they broke 12 school records. Individual county titles were earned by Brielle MacDonald in the 800 meters, Bailey McLean in the 400 meters, and Miguel Walters in the high jump.
“We are very proud of everyone, and excited for another winning season next year,” said coach Beth Blaine.
The softball team added to the success. Led by All-Stars Brianna DeLima, Julia Sherman, and Maddie Keller, the Rockets’ A squad won the Red Division for the fifth straight season, finishing 9-1. The year also marked the final season for longtime coach Denise Dellacqua, who leaves behind a legacy of 10 division titles since starting in 2005.
Girls soccer followed suit with a fifth consecutive Red Division crown. Standout players Addison Cleaver, Mia Storch, and Maddie Moore were named All-Stars under coach Allyson Boucher.
“Through hard work, dedication, and true teamwork, these athletes gave it their all and made us proud every step of the way,” Boucher said.
“This has been a banner year for our student athletes here at Intermediate East,” Principal Bryan Madigan added. “We’re especially proud of how our Rocket athletes have taken lessons of kindness and leadership from the classroom to the field and court.”
