Toms river launches lego robotics camps for kids this summer

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Two hands-on LEGO robotics camps are set to launch this summer in Toms River, offering students an interactive gateway into the world of coding, engineering, and space-themed exploration.

Running from June 23 to June 27 at the Toms River Youth Services Building, the STEM sessions are designed for students entering grades 2 through 6. The morning camp, LEGO Robotics and Coding – Space Quest, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to incoming 2nd to 4th graders.

Campers will use LEGO Spike Essential Education Robotics Construction Sets to build and code space-themed models using sensors and motors. The program emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and foundational engineering concepts through hands-on building challenges.

In the afternoon, incoming 4th to 6th graders can enroll in LEGO Robotics and Coding with Scratch MIT – Quirky Adventures Camp, held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will create animated models such as a “trash monster” and a high-tech playground using the same robotics kits, then program their builds using Scratch MIT, a block-based coding language developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Limited spots available for $280 per camper

Both camps cost $280 per participant and maintain a small group size for a focused learning experience. Each session pairs students for collaborative model-building, problem-solving, and prototype testing.

The STEM camps aim to enhance creative thinking and technical skills through practical applications of science, technology, engineering, and math.
