NEW YORK, NY — A 21-year-old man was stabbed multiple times aboard a Bronx subway train during Friday morning’s rush hour, police said.
The violent incident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. aboard a southbound 5 train near the East 219th Street station on White Plains Road. According to investigators, the victim was approached by an unidentified individual who brandished a knife and stabbed him several times in the torso.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. He is listed in stable condition, authorities confirmed.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene on foot and exited the 225th Street subway station. His current whereabouts are unknown.

The NYPD released a description of the individual being sought in connection with the stabbing. He is described as a male with a medium complexion, last seen wearing a black vest, blue sweatshirt, gray pants, and multi-colored sneakers.
No motive for the stabbing has been released, and it is not yet clear whether the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the incident.
