TOMS RIVER, N.J. — High school and college students looking to build their resumes or complete required community service hours have an opportunity to give back this weekend as Toms River Township hosts a volunteer cleanup at Skyview Park.
The cleanup, organized by Toms River Township Recreation in partnership with Mayor Daniel Rodrick, will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Skyview Park. Organizers say letters documenting volunteer hours will be provided for participants who need proof of community service.
Opportunity for students, Scouts, and families
Community service hours have become increasingly valuable for students applying to colleges, scholarships, honor societies, and certain academic programs. Many high school courses and civic organizations also require volunteer service as part of graduation or membership requirements.
Township officials are encouraging Scouts, students, civic organizations, and families to participate in the cleanup, which is aimed at improving one of the community’s public parks before the busy fall season.
Volunteers will help remove litter and improve the appearance of the park while contributing to a cleaner public space for local residents.

The event will be held at Skyview Park on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon.
