Two Arrested in Attempted Armed Robbery in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning following an attempted armed robbery in Glen Burnie, according to local authorities.

At approximately 6:40 a.m. on August 20, officers responded to the 7800 block of Crilley Road, where a 27-year-old man reported that two male suspects had approached him, armed with firearms, and demanded his property. The victim refused to comply, prompting the suspects to flee the scene.

Officers who arrived on the scene quickly located the suspects, who attempted to escape on foot but were apprehended after a brief pursuit. Police recovered a stolen loaded silver Smith & Wesson .357 caliber revolver and a black Aero Precision X15 rifle. One of the suspects, identified as Kareem Abdul Sims, 37, of Severn, Maryland, was also found in possession of approximately 7.6 grams of suspected MDMA.

Sims and his accomplice, Anthony Michael Kakuk, 33, of Queenstown, Maryland, were both arrested and charged in connection with the attempted robbery.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the attempted robbery.
