RIVERDALE, Md. — Prince George’s County Police have arrested and charged two men in connection with the fatal shooting of a Hyattsville man last October in Riverdale.

Jose Guardado-Orellana, 33, of Mount Rainier, and Santiago De La O Lemus, 30, of Landover, are charged with first- and second-degree murder in the killing of 38-year-old Jeiver Pozuelos Cervantes.

On October 24, 2024, at around 6:40 a.m., patrol officers were flagged down near Veterans Parkway and Riverdale Road and directed to an unresponsive man. Officers found Cervantes with gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators later determined that the victim was shot during a robbery. Guardado-Orellana was arrested on May 12, 2025, in Baltimore by the PGPD Fugitive Unit and U.S. Marshals. De La O Lemus was taken into custody in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on December 4, 2024, and has since been extradited to Maryland.

Both suspects held without bond on murder charges

The suspects are being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. In addition to murder, they face related charges stemming from the incident.
