HACKENSACK, N.J. — Two men from Mount Vernon, N.Y., were arrested and indicted for their roles in a string of armed robberies that spanned Bergen, Passaic, and Essex counties, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced Monday.
Veron S. Brown, 26, and Ryan D. Servis, 25, were charged following a year-long investigation into a series of gas station robberies carried out in early 2024. The pair allegedly used stolen vehicles, brandished firearms, and wore ski masks while targeting attendants at multiple locations.
The robberies began on January 7, 2024, with two incidents reported in Clifton, N.J., and later that morning, additional robberies were carried out in Hasbrouck Heights and Little Ferry. In each case, the suspects used a stolen black Kia Sorento SUV to flee the scene. Subsequent robberies on January 26, 2024, in Fort Lee and Newark involved a gray Kia Sportage, also confirmed as stolen.
Brown and Servis were arrested in August 2024 by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and FBI Safe Streets Task Force. Both men were charged with multiple counts, including armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and motor vehicle theft. A Bergen County Grand Jury later handed down a 17-count indictment in November 2024.
“This investigation was a coordinated effort among local, county, and federal law enforcement,” Musella said, thanking multiple agencies for their cooperation. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
