Two more Rite Aid stores to close in New Jersey amid company’s ongoing restructuring

NEPTUNE, N.J. – Two additional Rite Aid locations in New Jersey are set to close as the national pharmacy chain continues shuttering underperforming stores as part of its bankruptcy-driven reorganization.

The affected stores are located at 75 South Main Street in Neptune and 403 Sicklerville Road in Sicklerville, the company confirmed. These closures are part of Rite Aid’s broader plan to streamline operations and reduce real estate costs following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in October 2023.

Customers at both stores have begun receiving notices of the closures, and signs have been posted informing shoppers of the impending shutdowns. No official final date for operations has been announced, but the stores are expected to close in the coming weeks.

The company has said prescriptions will be transferred to nearby Rite Aid or competitor pharmacy locations to ensure continuity of service. Employees at the closing stores may be offered transfers or severance packages, depending on position and location.

The closures in Neptune and Sicklerville follow dozens of store shutdowns across New Jersey over the past year, as Rite Aid works through a court-supervised restructuring process to reduce debt and focus on higher-performing sites.

Rite Aid continues to scale back its footprint in New Jersey with two more pharmacy closures confirmed in Monmouth and Camden counties.
