WACO, Texas — Two undocumented men from Guatemala were arrested on federal firearms charges following a road rage incident on Interstate 35, authorities said.
Anderson Morales-Calderon, 19, and Ever Morales-Calderon, 25, were taken into custody Feb. 3 after an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Both men are charged in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas with aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm as undocumented aliens.
The case began on Jan. 24, when a 911 caller reported that someone in the Morales-Calderons’ vehicle had pointed a rifle at a semi-truck during a road rage incident. Officers from the Troy and Lorena Police Departments stopped the vehicle and saw two air rifles and a .22 rifle in plain view inside. Further investigation confirmed that both men had entered the U.S. illegally.
“ICE is committed to aggressively pursue dangerous criminal aliens and other immigration violators who perpetuate violence in our local communities,” said Bret Bradford, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director.
Federal authorities continue to investigate the incident, and both men remain in custody.
