SUITLAND, Md. — A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured in Suitland earlier this week, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

James Stewart, of Upper Marlboro, is charged with first-degree murder and related offenses in the June 3 shooting that killed 32-year-old Myandre McBride of Suitland. Police said the two men were known to each other and had been involved in an ongoing dispute.

At approximately 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5600 block of Regency Park Court. Inside an apartment, they found McBride and a second male victim, both suffering from gunshot wounds. McBride was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim was transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

Suspect identified through investigative efforts

Investigators used multiple techniques to identify Stewart as the suspected shooter. Details of the methods used were not disclosed.

Stewart is currently being held at the Department of Corrections without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
