Vehicle stolen in stafford found after police chase, crash in philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On February 11 at 11:52 a.m. deputies were alerted to a possible vehicle theft in the parking lot of Lowes at Stafford Marketplace. Witnesses reported two suspects rummaging through a silver Chevy Sonic and throwing items into the parking lot. The suspects then fled in the vehicle, driving over some of the items, including a laptop computer.

Deputies were able to locate a victim several minutes later. He had left the keys in the vehicle while visiting a business in the shopping center. A GPS in the vehicle was activated and deputies learned the vehicle was headed north on I-495 in Maryland. The vehicle was entered into a national database as stolen.

At 4:08 p.m. the Stafford Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Philadelphia Police that the stolen vehicle was located in their jurisdiction. When officers tried to stop the stolen car, a pursuit ensued, ending with the suspects crashing into another car.

Two juveniles from Philadelphia were taken into custody after they attempted to flee on foot from the wrecked car. Since they are juveniles, we cannot release their names or photos. Deputies learned the pair had used an UBER to come to Stafford and then decided to take this car for their trip back home.
