Virginia man gets 12 years for cocaine trafficking, illegal firearms stash

RICHMOND, Va. — A Glen Allen man was sentenced Thursday to more than 12 years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine and illegally possessing firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

According to federal prosecutors, Gregg Louis Gamble, 55, operated a cocaine trafficking operation between North Carolina and Virginia from the summer of 2023 until his arrest in September 2024. He allegedly obtained kilogram quantities of cocaine from a North Carolina supplier and distributed the drugs throughout Virginia.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Gamble’s Glen Allen residence and vehicle on Sept. 13, 2024. During the search, agents recovered three kilogram-sized bricks of cocaine, approximately 500 grams of cocaine in Ziploc bags, $161,020 in cash, two firearms, and 547 rounds of ammunition.

Prior convictions barred firearm possession

Gamble’s criminal history includes previous convictions for possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of controlled substances, driving while intoxicated, and various drug and weapons charges. Due to these prior convictions, Gamble was legally barred from owning or possessing any firearms or ammunition.

As part of his sentence, Gamble will serve 12 years and 7 months in federal prison with no possibility of parole.
