AKRON, Ohio — A local woman is now $150,000 richer after landing the top prize on the Ohio Lottery’s $5 Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X scratch-off game, officials announced Thursday.

She purchased the winning ticket at Circle K #5598, located at 1526 S. Hawkins Avenue in Akron, a spot she says she visits regularly.

After scratching the ticket, the winner said she was in disbelief and called a friend to confirm the prize. The reality of the win didn’t fully set in, she added, until she arrived at the Ohio Lottery’s Canton office to make the official claim.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 28 percent, she will receive a payout of $108,000.

Winner plans to buy home with scratch-off windfall

The winner plans to use her prize money to purchase a home. Her name has not been released by the lottery.

The Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X game currently has five top prizes of $150,000 remaining. The game is one of several themed scratch-offs currently offered by the Ohio Lottery.

The agency has contributed over $33 billion to education in the state since 1974.
