November 20, 2024

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Washington, D.C., woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a police officer during a shoplifting investigation at the North Face store in Potomac Mills Mall, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Nov. 19 at approximately 1:10 p.m. when officers responded to the store, located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, to investigate a reported theft. Police said Tahela Adonika Daley, 25, resisted officers’ attempts to detain her, striking one of the officers before being subdued without further incident.

During the arrest, Daley reportedly provided false identification to officers. Following an investigation, she was charged with multiple offenses, including assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit a felony, providing false identity to law enforcement, and wearing masks in public.

Daley, of 701 6th Street NW in Washington, D.C., is being held without bond. A court date is pending.

The officer involved in the incident was not reported to have suffered serious injuries. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged shoplifting.
