STAFFORD COUNTY, VA—A distressing incident of child neglect was reported by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. On Wednesday, at around 6:23 PM, a 7-year-old girl was found alone and disheveled on Cumberland Road.
First Sergeant A.I. Assur responded to the call about the child wandering the street. After securing the child’s safety, the officer conducted an investigation to locate her parents. The father was informed of the situation and arrived an hour later, at which point he was issued a summons for child neglect. The sheriff’s office highlighted the incident in their daily report to underscore the importance of child safety in the community.
