August 15, 2025

A quiet street in Northeast DC became the scene of a deadly shooting as a woman was gunned down inside her home.

WASHINGTON, DC – A 36-year-old woman was shot and killed inside a residence in Northeast Washington late Wednesday morning, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers from the Fifth District responded around 11:01 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 3300 block of 15th Street NE, where they found the victim, Mignon Brown-Massey, unconscious but still breathing with multiple gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS transported her to a nearby hospital, but despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police confirmed Thursday that the shooting occurred inside the location and that Brown-Massey was a resident of Northeast DC.

Investigators have not released information about a suspect or motive, and the case remains open as homicide detectives continue to pursue leads.

The department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, offering a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.

This marks another fatal shooting in a summer that has seen a series of violent incidents across the city’s residential neighborhoods.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the shooting was domestic in nature or related to any ongoing disputes in the area.
