30-year-old’s death under homicide investigation after officers called to assist firefighters
BALTIMORE, MD — A call to assist firefighters at a South Baltimore home Monday morning turned into a homicide investigation after officers found a 30-year-old woman dead inside with signs of trauma to her body.
Baltimore Police said Southern District patrol officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Bristal Place at approximately 10:14 a.m.
The officers had initially been dispatched to assist the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Inside the home, officers discovered the woman, who police described as obviously deceased.
Investigators said she had signs of trauma to her body. Police did not disclose the nature or extent of those injuries.
The woman’s identity has not been released.
Her remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, which could provide additional information about the cause and manner of death.
Police have not released information about what prompted the original Fire Department response or the circumstances leading to the discovery.
No suspect information or arrests were announced.
Baltimore Police homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
