A Pennsylvania Lottery retailer in Tamaqua sold a $1 million-winning Jackpot Scratch-Off ticket, lottery officials announced.
TAMAQUA, PA — A Pennsylvania Lottery player is holding a ticket worth $1 million after a top-prize-winning Jackpot Scratch-Off was sold at a convenience store in Schuylkill County.
The winning ticket was sold at Tamaqua Mart LLC, located at 401 West Broad St. in Tamaqua.
The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Jackpot is a $20 Scratch-Off game that offers top prizes of $1 million.
Lottery officials said winning Scratch-Off tickets are distributed randomly, meaning neither the Pennsylvania Lottery nor retailers know where top-prize tickets will be sold before they are purchased. The Lottery learns where winning tickets are sold only after a prize has been claimed.
Officials reminded players that Scratch-Off prizes expire one year after the game’s end-sale date posted on the Pennsylvania Lottery website. Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to begin the claims process.
Pennsylvania Lottery prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to applicable withholding.
