Aston convenience store scores a winning ticket after Power Play doubles the Pennsylvania prize
ASTON, PA – A Powerball ticket sold at an Aston Royal Farms turned Wednesday’s $1.04 billion jackpot drawing into a $100K win closer to home, with the Delaware County ticket matching four white balls and the Powerball before a Power Play multiplier doubled the prize.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Thursday that Royal Farms at 3314 Market St. sold the $100,000-winning ticket for the Aug. 12 drawing.
The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with Powerball 9.
The Aston ticket matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball.
That combination normally carries a $50,000 prize, but the player purchased the $1 Power Play option.
Wednesday’s Power Play multiplier was 2X, boosting the ticket to $100,000 before applicable withholding.
Royal Farms will receive a $500 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The winner will not be known until the ticket is claimed and validated, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.
The ticket holder has one year from Wednesday’s drawing date to claim the prize.
The Delaware County win came during a Powerball drawing that produced a $1.04 billion jackpot winner in Illinois.
A single Illinois ticket matched all six numbers, ending a jackpot run that stretched across 44 consecutive drawings after the previous jackpot was won May 2.
The jackpot is the eighth-largest in Powerball history. The winning Illinois ticket carries the choice of a $1.04 billion annuity or a $450.5 million cash payment before taxes.
Pennsylvania also produced another $100,000 Powerball with Power Play prize Wednesday, but that ticket was purchased online.
More than 160,300 other Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing.
The Pennsylvania Lottery said the jackpot run generated more than $81 million in sales and more than $32 million in profit for programs benefiting older Pennsylvanians.
