Violence erupts after fight between residents
Officers responded to Youth For Tomorrow, located on Hazel Circle Drive, around 10 a.m. on April 6 after receiving reports of an assault. Investigators learned the 13-year-old resident had been involved in a fight with another youth before staff intervened.
As a staff member attempted to restrain him, the boy reportedly headbutted the employee and used two metal screws to stab him. He also caused damage to a vehicle during the incident.
Minor injuries reported as charges filed
The staff member sustained minor injuries, according to police. The boy was formally charged on April 14 with malicious wounding and destruction of property. He remains in custody as the case proceeds through the juvenile court system.
