$20 Ohio scratch-off turns into million-dollar payday

VANDALIA, Ohio — A New Carlisle resident is celebrating a major lottery win after claiming the top prize on the Ohio Lottery’s $2,000,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off ticket, officials announced Wednesday.

The winner, who chose the game’s $1 million cash option over the annuity payout of $80,000 per year for 25 years, purchased the lucky $20 ticket at Speedway #9616, located at 830 E. National Road in Vandalia.

After mandatory federal and state tax withholdings totaling 28 percent, the winner will receive a lump sum of $720,000.

Only one top prize remaining in $2M Extreme Cash game

$2,000,000 Extreme Cash is a $20 instant ticket offering top-tier prizes through both annuity and cash options. As of May 28, only one top prize remains available.

The Ohio Lottery continues to fund education through its proceeds and has contributed more than $33 billion to public education programs since 1974.

Players can learn more about Extreme Cash and other scratch-off offerings by visiting the Ohio Lottery’s official website.
