by Leo Canega

CUMBERLAND, MD – On Friday, Breanna Black, aged 34, was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison after pleading guilty to third-degree murder and illegal firearm possession.

The sentencing, conducted by Judge Jessica E. Brewbaker, reflects the maximum statutory penalty for both charges.

Black’s conviction relates to the April 9, shooting of Beth Schwartz.

Schwartz, who was shot once in the chest, managed to call 911, identifying her assailant as “Bree” before succumbing to her injuries despite medical efforts at Chambersburg and York Hospitals.

Black’s sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that has brought to justice a perpetrator of a serious and fatal crime.
