Bronx Man Charged for Deadly May Shooting

BRONX, NY – A 23-year-old Bronx man was arrested on charges stemming from a fatal shooting that occurred last year.

Jeremy Amadiz, residing at 1750 East 172 Street, faces charges of Second-Degree Murder and First-Degree Manslaughter.

The incident took place on May 15, 2023, around 5:33 PM, when police were called to the scene of a shooting in front of 1303 Commonwealth Avenue, within the 43rd Precinct. Officers found 18-year-old Jerome Burleigh from 1137 Fteley Avenue, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Emergency services quickly transported Burleigh to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.
