TOMS RIVER, N.J. — As high temperatures grip the region, Toms River officials have extended operating hours at the Municipal Pool at Snug Harbor through Wednesday.

Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick today said the pool will stay open later as temperatures are expected to soar into triple digits.

The pool, located at 1810 Warren Point Road, will remain open until 7 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday to give residents additional time to cool off during the ongoing heat wave. Normally, the pool closes earlier in the evening.

The extended schedule comes as the area experiences temperatures in the 90s, with heat indexes pushing even higher. Local authorities have encouraged residents to take precautions, including staying indoors during peak sun hours and utilizing public cooling locations such as pools and libraries.

“Snug Harbor Pool extended hours — 24 June | 25 June | 7 PM,” read a flyer posted by town officials, highlighting the temporary change. Flamingo floats, umbrellas, and lifebuoys were shown in the promotion aimed at families and local swimmers.

The pool is open to residents with a valid pool badge. Further updates on schedule changes or extended hours beyond Wednesday have not yet been announced.
