80-Year-Old Man Charged with Sexual Assault in Virginia Hotel Elevator

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – An 80-year-old man faces charges following an alleged sexual assault of a young girl in a hotel elevator. Dennis James Schettino, a resident of Calabash, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery. The incident reportedly occurred on Easter Sunday morning at the Hampton Inn located on Old Stage Road in Dumfries.

Police were alerted to the incident around 9:30 a.m. on March 31, when a girl under the age of 15 reported being accosted by Schettino in the hotel elevator. She managed to exit the elevator and informed a family member, who then contacted authorities.

Following an investigation, Schettino was identified as the suspect and subsequently arrested in North Carolina on Thursday, April 11. He awaits extradition to Prince William County, where he will face charges. Schettino is currently held in custody, pending his extradition process to Virginia.
