Drug Deal Interrupted by Atlantic City Police Leads to Two Arrests

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—An alleged drug transaction was disrupted by the Atlantic City Police Department, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of various drugs. The incident took place on Wednesday at approximately 5:42 PM in an alleyway on the first block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Officers Julian Monsalve and William Harned observed Calvin Cross and Angelina Cannon engaged in what appeared to be a drug deal. When Cross and Cannon noticed the police presence, they tried to leave the scene but were quickly apprehended by the officers.

Calvin Cross, 46, of Atlantic City, was found with about 50 grams of heroin, over 45 grams of cocaine, and several Xanax pills. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone.

Angelina Cannon, 41, also from Atlantic City, was charged with loitering to possess CDS and released on a summons pending a court appearance. Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and these charges are merely accusations.

The police are asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Atlantic City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit or submit an anonymous tip via text to tip411 with the keyword “ACPD.”
