BOSTON, MA – Early Wednesday morning, at approximately 12:45 AM, two 17-year-old males were arrested by the Boston Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit in Roxbury, facing serious firearm charges.
The incident unfolded when officers responded to a complaint of loud music near Humboldt Avenue and Homestead Street. Upon arrival, they noticed two males quickly walking away from the scene. The situation escalated when the males began to run upon spotting the police cruiser turning around to approach them.
During the chase up Munroe Street, officers observed one of the juveniles clutching his waistband, and subsequently holding a firearm. Despite commands to stop and drop the weapon, one juvenile attempted to escape by jumping over a fence but was later found hiding in a backyard bush. The other was apprehended after a violent struggle before he could scale the fence.
A Glock 20 handgun with twelve rounds in the magazine was recovered from behind the fence where the first suspect had attempted to flee. Charges against the juveniles include unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large capacity feeding device, destruction of property, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
The Boston Police Department emphasizes the severity of this incident, underscoring the ongoing efforts to address youth involvement in violent activities and ensuring community safety.
