ALLEGANY COUNTY, MD – The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office has announced the reopening of I68 after a significant disruption caused by a tractor trailer fire. The incident occurred on Sunday evening on I68 eastbound near the 40 mile marker, leading to a complete closure of all lanes.
Authorities had urged motorists to avoid the area, anticipate delays, and seek alternate routes while emergency services managed the situation. Four hours after the initial closure, the road has been cleared and normal traffic has resumed.
