Police say confrontation ended with 37-year-old’s death
BALTIMORE, Md. — A Parkville man has been charged with murder after Baltimore police said he pushed another man into the water during a confrontation near the city’s Inner Harbor, leading to the victim’s death.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, homicide detectives arrested 36-year-old James Fitzsimmons in connection with the death of 37-year-old James Britt of Baltimore.
Investigators said Britt and Fitzsimmons became involved in a physical altercation on Aug. 2 near the 1300 block of Lancaster Street.
Police allege Britt was retreating from Fitzsimmons when Fitzsimmons pushed him into the water.
Earlier that afternoon, at approximately 3:13 p.m., officers responded after a 37-year-old man was pulled from the water.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Following the investigation, detectives arrested Fitzsimmons and transported him to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
He has been charged with second-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
