Woodbridge, VA — Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Old Bridge Rd. and Harbor Dr. on Sunday, June 16 at 11:02 AM. The investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford F150 pickup truck traveling westbound on Old Bridge Rd. collided with a 2020 Ford Edge that had entered the intersection traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Rd. Both drivers and a passenger were transported to area hospitals.
On June 27, crash investigators were notified that the male passenger in the Edge, identified as John Richard Gerald Grosskopf, 88, of Woodbridge, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The other involved parties are expected to survive. Speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in the incident.
The driver of the Edge, Doris Ann Grosskopf, 82, of the 12100 block of Clipper Dr. in Woodbridge, was charged with failure to follow a traffic signal on the day of the crash. Her court date is set for August 26. She has been released on a court summons.
The driver of the Ford F150 was identified as a 44-year-old man from Hyattsville, MD. The passenger in the F150 was identified as an 18-year-old man from Hyattsville, MD. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
