Bowie Man Wins $50,000 in Maryland Lottery Pick 5

BOWIE, MD – A local Bowie man, initially out to pick up vitamins for his wife, ended up winning $50,000 from the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game. The fortunate Prince George’s County resident, a frequent player of both Pick 4 and Pick 5, decided on a whim to purchase lottery tickets during his errand last Friday.

Stopping at Hilltop Wine and Spirits, he bought his regular games along with a couple of $1 straight Pick 5 Quick Pick tickets. Upon returning home, just before sitting down for a family dinner, he decided to check the winning numbers online. “I checked the website for the winning numbers and saw that they looked awfully familiar,” he recounted. “I immediately went through my tickets and sure enough, I had a match.”

The shock was palpable for the financial analyst and father of four. “I looked at my phone, then back at my ticket, then back at my phone, then back at my ticket,” he said, describing his disbelief. The winner shared the news quietly with his wife to keep the excitement from their children during dinner.

With his winnings, he plans to pay bills and assist his daughter in purchasing a car. Hilltop Wine and Spirits, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will also receive a $500 bonus for their part in this lucky transaction.
