Ocean County to Solicit Public Input on Kennedy Boulevard and County Line Road Improvement Project

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County has announced an online public information center to gather community feedback on the Concept Development Study for the improvement of Kennedy Boulevard (County Route 6) and County Line Road (County Route 526) in Lakewood. The session will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on August 8, providing a platform for residents, business owners, and officials to contribute to the planning process.

Participants can access the session online at www.CountyLineandKennedy.com or by phone at 877-284-0719 using the conference ID: 452381942#. Additionally, a QR code linking to the information center is available on the Ocean County website at www.co.ocean.nj.us.

Ocean County Commissioner John P. Kelly, who is also the liaison to the Ocean County Engineering Department, emphasized the importance of public involvement. “As Lakewood continues to grow rapidly, it’s vital that our community members partake in shaping the future of our roadways to enhance safety and improve overall traffic flow,” Kelly stated.

The online session aims to present the current conditions of the project corridor and gather public input on the project’s Purpose and Need statement, which will help guide the development of conceptual alternatives. The study focuses on reducing congestion and improving operations, safety, and traffic flow for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists along the stretch from Laurelwood Avenue to Squankum Road.

This project, in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, and the Federal Highway Administration, seeks to address the significant congestion issues faced during peak hours due to the dense mix of businesses and residences.

“The primary goal of this local concept development project is to enhance safety and alleviate congestion within the project limits for all roadway users,” added Kelly.

All public comments and feedback collected during the session will play a crucial role in the development of the Preliminary Preferred Alternative (PPA), which will eventually advance to design and implementation stages. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to participate and contribute their views on this significant community project.
