Road rage suspect arrested after pulling gun on driver on i-97 in annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Baltimore County man has been arrested following an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm in Anne Arundel County, authorities said.

The individual, identified as Jayden Spurlin, 24, of Baltimore, Maryland, has been charged with felony assault, use of a gun in the commission of a felony, and other related offenses. Spurlin was apprehended without incident at his residence in Baltimore County on Thursday night.

The incident came to light when a motorist contacted the Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack on Wednesday, August 28, to report that another driver had pointed a firearm at him during a road rage dispute. The alleged confrontation took place on southbound I-97, north of Route 50 in Annapolis. The complainant described the vehicle involved as a black Audi sedan.

Following an investigation, state police were able to identify and locate both the vehicle and the driver, who was later identified as Spurlin. Search warrants executed at Spurlin’s Baltimore residence and on the Audi led to the seizure of a loaded handgun.

Spurlin was taken to the Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack for processing. After consultation with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, he was officially charged and later released on an unsecured bond following an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

According to the Maryland State Police, the department remains committed to addressing all incidents of gun violence on Maryland highways. Authorities continue to urge motorists to prioritize safety by avoiding aggressive driving and obeying speed limits.

Police are also seeking information related to ongoing investigations into several highway-related crimes, including the murders of Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks, and Nyah Hairston. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 410-538-1887.
