Juvenile Fire Play Causes $150,000 Damage in Hebron House Fire

HEBRON, Md. — A structure fire early Wednesday morning caused significant damage to a two-story, wood-framed, single-family home in Hebron, Wicomico County. No injuries were reported.

The fire, which occurred at 512 N Main St., was discovered by an occupant of the home at approximately 1:41 a.m. Responding firefighters from the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. Around 30 firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire.

Officials estimate the fire caused $100,000 in damage to the structure and $50,000 to its contents. The fire originated in a second-floor bedroom and was attributed to juvenile fire play, according to a preliminary investigation.

Smoke alarms and a fire sprinkler system were not present in the home at the time of the incident. The family is receiving assistance from relatives and the American Red Cross.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
