NEW YORK — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a criminal mischief incident involving an unauthorized operation of a subway train at the Briarwood station, police said.

On Wednesday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a 17-year-old male was arrested in the 107th Precinct and charged with two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree reckless endangerment. The day before, on Tuesday, September 18, a 17-year-old female was arrested at around 12:30 p.m. and charged with first-degree criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, September 12, 2024, when the two individuals entered an unoccupied subway train at the Briarwood station at approximately 12:08 a.m. They operated the train, which led to a collision and damage. The individuals fled the scene on foot, and no injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating other individuals connected to the incident.
