WESTFIELD, NJ– Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro announced the arrest of a Brooklyn woman for unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony traffic stop that occurred on Sunday.
Westfield police received a real-time alert from a license plate recognition camera that a wanted vehicle had entered Westfield.
The vehicle was reportedly involved in a shooting that occurred in Jersey City less than 24 hours earlier, and its occupant was believed to be armed.
Officer Michael Pollock located the vehicle near Carol Road and Lynn Lane and executed a felony stop.
The driver, Rianna Williams, 24, was taken into custody without incident, and a subsequent investigation ensued.
Williams was reportedly working as a driver for a food delivery service at the time.
During the investigation, officers observed a spent shell casing on the vehicle’s front passenger-side floor.
A further search revealed a Glock 26 handgun loaded with a single 9 mm Luger cartridge in the chamber beneath the front passenger seat.
Additional shell casings were also found in the vehicle.
Williams was transported to the Westfield Police Department and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, a second-degree crime.
