UTICA, N.Y. — A 28-year-old Utica man has been charged following a shots fired incident on the 700 block of South Street, police said Monday. The suspect, identified as Daiquon McCladdie, faces multiple weapons charges.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Utica police were alerted to the scene by a ShotSpotter notification. Officers responded and located several spent shell casings in a driveway. A search of a nearby second-floor apartment revealed live ammunition matching the casings, including some found in a toilet.

The case was taken over by the Utica Police Department’s GIVE Unit, which developed further evidence. McCladdie has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
