BALTIMORE, Md. — A 19-year-old woman who was shot late last month in Baltimore has died from her injuries, police said on Friday.
Officers were called around 3:43 a.m. on October 27 to the unit block of West Hamburg Street, near Federal Hill, where they found Cameran Holt suffering from a gunshot wound. According to a GoFundMe account set up by her family, Holt was out with her older sister and a cousin when a bullet struck her during a fight between two groups of people. The bullet reportedly hit her brain stem, and she remained on life support until Thursday.
In the aftermath of the tragic incident, Holt’s family has been vocal about their grief and anger. Holt is remembered as a selfless, caring person who was deeply devoted to her family.
A 28-year-old man was also shot in the same area that night, but police have not released further information on his condition.
Witnesses recall hearing a loud commotion and multiple gunshots as the argument escalated. “I heard somebody say, ‘Oh my God, oh my God,’ and then the first shot went off. Then three more followed. It was loud,” said Vernon Branch, who witnessed the incident from his window.
Baltimore police are continuing to investigate the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted by calling 410-396-2100 or anonymously through Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7LOCKUP.
