Gunman robs 69-year-old woman of necklace and cellphone in bronx attack

Police search for suspect who allegedly displayed a firearm before fleeing on foot

NEW YORK, NY — A 69-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in the Bronx after a suspect allegedly ripped a necklace from her neck and stole her cellphone before fleeing, according to the New York City Police Department.

The robbery occurred at approximately 5:57 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, near the intersection of Park Avenue and East 163rd Street.

Police said an unidentified individual approached the woman and forcibly removed the necklace she was wearing.

The suspect then allegedly displayed a firearm and took the victim’s cellphone from her pants pocket before fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
