Wilmington man arrested for multiple fraud-related felonies in Townsend

TOWNSEND, Del. — Delaware State Police have arrested 42-year-old Wendell Bowser of Wilmington in connection with multiple felony fraud-related offenses, including an attempted theft involving a Townsend residence earlier this month.

The investigation began on November 12, 2024, after troopers received a report of an attempted theft of a home in Townsend. Detectives discovered that Bowser had tried to purchase the property using a bad check and forged bank documents. Further inquiries linked Bowser to similar fraud schemes in Delaware, North Carolina, and Virginia.

On November 25, Bowser was apprehended at the Probation and Parole Office in New Castle. He was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with the following felonies:

Charges against Wendell Bowser:

  • Forgery 1st Degree (2 counts)
  • Attempted theft where the property value is $100,000 or more
  • Issuing a bad check equal to or exceeding $1,500
  • Falsifying business records (2 counts)

Bowser was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting a $44,000 secured bond.

Authorities continue to investigate Bowser’s potential involvement in additional fraud cases across multiple states.
