LEWES, Del. — A 63-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Lewes grocery store, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:22 p.m. in the Weis Markets parking lot on North Village Main Boulevard. According to Delaware State Police, a black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound when it struck the woman as she was crossing the lane of travel on foot.

The victim, a Milton resident, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not been released pending family notification.

The driver of the Jeep, an 86-year-old man from Lewes, was not injured in the crash. Authorities have not announced any charges as the investigation continues.

Police have not disclosed whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the collision.
