Snowstorm to blanket DC with up to 6 inches, impacting travel

by Local News Report

WASHINGTON, DC — A winter storm watch has been issued for the District of Columbia, with forecasters warning of heavy snowfall that could disrupt travel and impact commutes.

The National Weather Service advisory takes effect Tuesday at 1 p.m. and remains in place until Wednesday at 7 a.m. Snowfall totals between 4 and 6 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

Officials say precipitation will begin as light snow Tuesday afternoon before intensifying in the evening and overnight hours. Wintry conditions may persist into Wednesday morning, making roads hazardous.

Drivers are urged to use caution, avoid sudden stops or acceleration, and allow extra travel time. The storm could create treacherous conditions, particularly during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
