State Police urge public to report sightings immediately

GREENVILLE, N.Y. — New York State Police are intensifying the search for a homicide suspect they describe as armed and dangerous, urging the public to report any sightings immediately and to review home surveillance footage that could help investigators.

According to New York State Police Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation, investigators are actively searching for Thomas Ryan in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation.

Police are asking residents not to approach Ryan if they see him. Instead, they should immediately contact New York State Police Troop F Communications at 845-344-5300 or call 911.

The victim has been identifed as his father, 70-year-old Robert Ryan.

Authorities are also searching for the victim’s gray 2016 Toyota Prius bearing New York registration NHH7671.

State Police said the investigation involves local, county and federal law enforcement agencies, along with crime analysis centers, transportation partners and aviation resources.

Investigators are specifically asking residents in the Greenville community to review any available home surveillance footage recorded from approximately 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 through the overnight hours for suspicious activity.

Police said even information that may appear insignificant could prove valuable to the investigation.

Anyone with information about Ryan’s whereabouts or the missing vehicle is urged to contact New York State Police immediately.
